Courion Announces Strongest First Quarter Performance in Company History

Record Software Sales Support Continued Record Growth

WESTBOROUGH, Mass. — May 26, 2011 — Courion® Corporation, leaders in access governance, compliance, and provisioning, today announced the close of the company’s strongest first quarter to date, with more than 40% of sales coming from the company’s access certification solution. As total bookings continue to grow from 2010, twice as many customers added to their investment in the Courion Suite since last year. During the quarter, Courion also grew its global head count by more than 10 percent, announced a number of new customer deployments, launched a new charitable giving program, and garnered widespread awards and industry recognition.

"2011 has started off especially strong for Courion, and we attribute our continued profitable growth to our understanding of the ever-evolving identity and access management (IAM) market, and our ability to provide customers with a comprehensive risk management solution," said Christopher Zannetos, president and CEO of Courion. "As enterprises continue to become more complex and security becomes increasingly difficult to manage, organizations are turning to Courion to mitigate access risk, prevent data breaches and demonstrate compliance with corporate, industry and federal regulations. Our industry expertise, innovative products and superior customer service have made us a top choice year after year across all industries."

Courion's Access Assurance Suite™ solution enables customers to automate business processes around employee access, demonstrate compliance and minimize security risks while simultaneously driving down cost. Through this comprehensive access assurance strategy, organizations can define access policies, assess how user access and activity affect risk, enforce automated access administration policies to prevent unauthorized access to sensitive information, and verify that user access is in accordance with these policies and remediate access when it is not.

Additional Q1 2011 highlights include:

  • Company Growth and Expansion: In the first quarter of 2011, Courion grew its global employee base by more than 10 percent, with new hires in the U.S., Europe and India. In March, Courion relocated its India Technology Center to a larger facility in Pune, India to support increasing customer demand, continued company growth and expanded research and development capabilities. Additionally, to support growing operations in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, the company appointed Marc Lee as the new EMEA sales director. Lee is responsible for building on Courion's success in Europe, which to date includes more than 70 blue chip customers, as well as growing operations in the Middle East and Africa.
  • New Customers: Courion added a number of marquee clients to its customer base this quarter, including the American Red Cross, Catholic Health Partners, Ohio’s largest health system, and Associated Materials, a leading manufacturer and distributor of exterior residential building products. All three companies selected Courion to mitigate access risk and improve compliance by enforcing user access policies.
  • New Charitable Giving Program: This past quarter, Courion also launched the "CourionCares™ Program for Non-Profits," a new semi-annual contest designed to provide non-profit organizations with the opportunity to apply for a donation of identity and access management (IAM) and compliance software to manage user access. The call for entries for the CourionCares Program for Non-Profits is now open.
  • Industry Recognition: Info Security Products Guide selected Courion's Access Assurance Suite as the winner of the "Identity Management" category in its 2011 Global Excellence Awards. Courion's Compliance Manager for File Shares was also named a finalist in the "Access" category.
