Cintas Corporation chooses CourionLive cloud-based identity and access management solution

SaaS option enables $3.8 billion business to business services provider to implement Courion’s Access Risk Management Suite for 30,000 users

WESTBOROUGH, Mass. — Courion Corporation, the leader in identity and access management for access risk, today announced that Cintas Corporation (Nas: CTAS), with revenues in FY'11 exceeding $3.8 billion, has chosen CourionLive™, the software as a service (SaaS) version of the Courion Access Risk Management Suite, as the identity and access management (IAM) solution. Cintas employs 30,000 people at approximately 430 facilities throughout North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia.

Cintas, a provider of corporate identity uniforms, safety equipment and training and other services, selected CourionLive because it aligns with the company's IT strategy of outsourcing non business specific applications so they can focus on implementing competitive advantage solutions for their expanding business lines. CourionLive offers a fast, easy-to-implement, highly secure and redundant solution for managing user access privileges to vital IT systems. Comprehensive identity and user access management is a major component of security strategies for protecting sensitive information from theft or damage. Knowing who has user access rights to what resources helps organizations weigh potential security risks to vital information and remediate the problem before it causes excessive losses.

The cloud's security, economy and flexibility enable Cintas to entrust its IAM data to CourionLive with the confidence that it is as safe as if it were hosted internally. CourionLive gives companies such as Cintas a strategic view of user access to their information systems so they can confidently open those systems to third-party and mobile users without unreasonable risk. It also provides a fast, easy way of integrating new users gained from mergers and acquisitions.

"We chose Courion because they are specialized in IAM and have one of the strongest track records in the industry. They mapped out an approach which provides Cintas more robust features and functionality than our current solution, improves our speed to market on new services, and increases our operating efficiency. CourionLive offered us comprehensive IAM functionality and reduced our overhead." said Mark LeClair, senior director of technology services at Cintas. "Our strategy is to remain laser focused on those on-premise applications which are core to our business while taking advantage of cloud-based offerings to enhance our total portfolio. This approach makes IAM increasingly important for us because we have to manage access to critical IT resources that aren't directly under our control. Courion and CourionLive give us the assurance we need to continue pursuing our IT strategy while keeping our resources secure."

Cintas will use CourionLive to automate repetitive IAM tasks — user provisioning, password management and user access certification — which are manually intensive processes today subject to human error. CourionLive will also reduce turnaround time for user access requests, improve service level agreements and reduce IAM costs. It provides a graphical view of access risks, important notifications and alerts and key actions that are personalized for executives, compliance and risk managers, IT operations, and business users. In addition to managing the access privileges of its employees, Cintas plans to use CourionLive to manage IT access granted to suppliers, partners and outside contractors.

"The cloud has developed into a credible platform for hosting critical applications like IAM," said Lori Rowland, managing vice president for the identity and privacy strategies team in the Gartner for IT Professionals research group at Gartner. "What will be key for organizations is the ability to boost business agility and curb IT costs while plugging in to a prescriptive IAM solution that is highly secure and reliable without compromising data privacy or system performance."

Courion designed CourionLive to start delivering value faster than any other solution in the market. The suite is configurable around Courion's best practices for key IAM functions, learned through more than 500 successful customer implementations.

"CourionLive is the product of listening to customers' desire for a cost-effective IAM solution that delivers best practices with a short implementation cycle and fast time-to-value," said David Fowler, chief operating officer at Courion. "By combining improved efficiency with the ability to identify where access risk exists in an organization, customers get the intelligence they need in near real-time to make decisions that minimize potential risk to the business such as data breaches, loss of intellectual property or damage to the company's brand."
